ROCK BAND 101
The ROCK BAND 101 course is an excellent way to try one's hand at playing rock and roll in a REAL BAND! Bands will consist of at least three musicians (guitar, bass, and drums), but no more than six (such as additional guitar, keyboards, etc.). Students will learn how to work as group by learning three classic rock tunes, recording a CD in our 24 track digital recording studio, and performing the songs LIVE at an event outdoors on our parking lot this summer! The sessions will be led by Tony Bland, one of our outstanding guitar instructors, with technical assistance and recording engineering by Doug Norton, who has worked professionally as a performer and recording engineer for many years.

The bands will meet on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30, for 12 weeks, starting on April 1. The total cost of the experience is $249, which covers all materials, equipment usage, and recording studio time. Currently enrolled students may pay the fee in three equal pays, added to your regular monthly tuition invoice. Non-enrolled students fees are due upon registration.

Private Lessons
We offer lessons in our studios in Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Sax. Here are the particulars....

For each program, we follow an established curriculum; we feel strongly that the beginning student needs to be trained to read music, whether they go on to classical study, or if they become an improviser or rock-n-roller. We also feel strongly about theory, and that the student needs to know not only how things work, but why, and the relationships thereof.

The courses teach the basics of the student's instrument and basic musicianship skills. We typically follow the Hal Leonard Fast Track series. Book 1 of each instrument series prepares the student to demonstrate competency on his instrument by reading simple notation and by performing basic drills.

Depending on the instrument and the particular goals of the student, there is other material to be studied in other series, and the student and instructor are free to design a customized method that will meet the individual goals of the student.

In addition to printed materials, the instructors will prepare written notes and handouts for the students. These extra materials are provided free of charge, and are many times one of a kind items that are prepared specifically for that student's benefit.

A student who has already reached a level of competence in another studio may be eligible for advanced placement; in this case, we will work individually with that student to design a curriculum of particular interest to that student's performance goals and musical direction.
